Google: let's talk @ TKK

Google will visit the TKK campus to talk about engineering opportunities in

Lecture hall T1 of the
TKK Computer Science Building (Konemiehentie 2, Espoo) on
Tuesday 27 November 2007 beginning at 16:15.

Join to find out how people at Google work, play and change the world.

The event will include, among other things, the following tech talk:

Hannu Helminen (Google):
Google Computing Platform
Google builds its datacenters on inexpensive hardware. This allows creating supercomputers of unprecedented flexibility economically. But building on commodity hardware poses extraordinary challenges from both software and hardware engineering points of view. We'll provide an inside view of how computing is done at Google scale.

Please visit www.google.com/jobs/students to view a complete list of job opportunities and learn more about work and culture at Google.

The duration of the event is at most 1½ hours. The language is English. Everyone is welcome to participate to the event.

Machine learning guest lectures at 10-12

In the same place earlier during the same day at 10-12 o'clock there will be two machine learning guest lectures in bachelor's level course "Machine Learning: Basic Principles",
10-11 Juha Vesanto (Xtract): Data Mining in Practice
11-12 Jyrki Alakuijala (Google): Machine Learning Methods in Web Search

While the morning lectures are targeted to the participants of the course, everyone interested is free to attend.

How to get here

For information on how to get here, please take a look at the map (the event is in the box 1). The connections by the public transport within the Helsinki region are given by the journey planner (you will have to fill in the "From" box, that is, the address from which you are coming to Otaniemi, for example "Railway Station").

The event is hosted at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Helsinki University of Technology (TKK). Practical training advisor Mari Tyllinen will provide further information of the event, if needed, as well as give advice on practical training, recruitment and careers for the CSE students.
